Chris Smith has the instinctive “eye” for photography.  Contrary to custom, his formal education came after his ability as a photographer was already discovered.   School taught Chris the technical aspects of photography, but without his natural ability to create a refined photograph out of everyday people, structures, and nature, the technicalities simply amounted to a certificate.

Chris began his training young.  At the age of 12 years old, he took his mothers Canon AE-1 35mm film camera to school and began taking his first portraits of classmates that would help him hone and perfect his skills.

Chris integrates years of photographing architecture, street scenes, structural art and landscapes of his local metropolitan area which resulted in a methodical and depictive photographic biography of his West Coast city life.
